Frequent Asked Questions

What are your business hours?
Monday - Saturday, 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM
Sunday, 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM for Pick Up and Drop Off only

When can I take a tour of your facility?
Tours of our facility are offered during regular business hours during off peak dates. No tours on Sunday, we are only open two hours for drop off and pick up on Sundays. calling ahead to make sure a tour is available is always a good idea.

Why can't I tour during Peak times?
Our Guest, your Pets, become comfortable and relaxed in our presence, but an unknown person can cause some of them to get worked up causing unneeded stress for everyone, and during peak times that is a lot of stress they don't need.  So, we ask that people understand and appreciate that their pet will enjoy the same benefit during their stay.

What vaccinations does Soos Creek Kennels require for my pet?
We recommend shots be administered at least 7 days prior to your arrival. This allows you time to watch for any adverse reactions to the vaccinations. Additionally, the initial stress of boarding can lower your pets immune system defenses causing a hardship for your pet while trying to process a vaccine.  We require current:

Dogs: Bordatella, DHLPP (or some variation of) and Rabies.
Cats: Feline Leukemia, FVRCP and Rabies.

What proof of vaccinations do you require?
You can request that your veterinarian fax your pet's shot records, or you can bring in with you a current copy or invoice from your vet.  No hand written records will be accepted, self vaccinated pets call prior to making your reservation to discuss.

FAX:  253.630.5075

Am I allowed to bring my pets own food?
Yes, Soos Creek Kennels has a very good quality food available for both Dogs and Cats, but you are welcome to bring your own.  No raw food is allowed, that means raw bones, raw meat and such. Should you bring your own food only bring enough for your pets stay, individually packaged per meal is preferred.  No Dishes are necessary!  Avoid bringing unusual food items that your pet is not familiar with, it can cause them upset stomachs.

What feeding times do you offer?
We beginning feeding at 7:30 AM,  the food is left with the pets until they decide to eat, allowing them to enjoy their food at the time they are accustomed too.  All food is picked up before 5:00 PM.  Because all pets are restricted to their indoor living space at night we no longer recommend feeding them evening meals.  This is strictly for your pets physical comfort and wellbeing, a dog eating a meal even several hours before their bed time may not potty before they are closed in and then experience discomfort during the night.  Treats are given out between 3:00 & 4:00 PM.

What if my pet is used to eating two meals a day?
Again we hope that everyone realizes our policy is in place for their pets comfort!  A stay at the kennel is usually brief, a few days to a few weeks.  The change to one feeding a day is safe and your pet will be able to eat throughout the day up until 5:00 PM.  Should for any reason(medical, breed specific) you still wish your pet to eat two meals a day we will accommodate your request,  an additional fee of $3.00 per day will apply.

Can I bring bedding or toys for my Pet?
Yes, we encourage you to bring something familiar to make them feel comfortable, beds, blankets, towels, etc. We do not accept comforters, sleeping bags or like items. We also allow toys, treats, and anything you feel will make your pet more comfortable during their stay.

What happens if my pet is injured or becomes sick during their stay?
Our contract that you sign gives authorization for us to provide medical attention if needed. If the illness or injury dictates, we have your veterinarian's name and phone number on record and we will attempt to contact them. If something happens after your veterinarian's office is closed, we will contact one of two local 24 hour emergency care facilities.  Of course we will also be calling you at the emergency number(s) that you have provided.

How does Soos Creek Kennels charge for our pets stay?
In many ways we are like a hotel the day your pet checks in you pay for, unlike a Hotel we allow check in as early as 9:00 am.  Check out is 12 noon, should you not make it back before noon don't worry, your pet will be waiting for you, but an additional days charge will be added.  Pets that are groomed prior to leaving are considered checked out at noon regardless of when they leave that day.

Why are there charges for every item, instead of just one flat rate?
Charges are broken down to meet the needs of every customer, some people are just looking for a safe place to keep their pet, some people want the full Spa treatment and then there is everyone in between.

Tell me about walks and playtimes?
We have a belief at SCK that as much as your pet may want to play with other animals, what they need most is human contact so for that reason SCK offers walks (dogs) and playtimes (Dogs & Cats) that are One on One with a member of our staff.  One on One sessions give them the quality human time they crave and need.  Group play is available to qualified dogs if requested.

Where do the walks and playtimes take place?
For dogs it varies, we have seven wooded acres and a nature trail that wanders through the back four acres. The hour walks are on the Soos Creek trail adjoining our property.  If weather is a factor or if they are participating in group play those take place in our 30' x 60' training facility. In the training facility there is an area fenced off for our guest that have requested "Snuggle times". Our cat guest have a cozy room in the cattery that offers toys and visual entertainment to give them extra room to play.

Are the walks and play times really necessary?
Necessary NO! Beneficial YES!  Like most vacations the kennel is a very active busy place and with all the stimulus that life at the kennel offers taking advantage of our exercise programs provides one-on-one time for your pet and helps break up your pet's day.

I have more than one pet can they share the same run?
Yes, as long as your suggesting dogs with dogs and cats with cats! It is not uncommon for 2 or 3 dogs or cats to share a run,  the run size may have to be controlled by SCK to assure that they are in a run large enough for all of them to be comfortable.  Multiple pets receive a discount when sharing a run.  We NEVER put pets from different families in the same run!

What is the space where my dog will stay like?
All our dog runs are indoor/outdoor.  Indoor the area is heated(of course) and walled on three sides offering them an area where they can get comfortable with their belongings and a bit of privacy from their neighbors.  Outside the area is covered protecting them from the elements, an 20" barrier prevents their neighbors from dirtying your pets run. The remainder is chain link, offering them a chance to get nose to nose and socialize if they want. It is a very open environment but with an area for privacy.

What is the space where my cat will stay like?
First, Our Cattery is located in a separate building away from the dogs.  Our Cattery also offers indoor/outdoor style runs, so should your feline friend enjoy going outdoors they may into a secure, covered enclosure. Indoors each space has a five foot tall cat tower with shelves and enclosed spaces for privacy.  We also offer additional services such as cat self play and cat cuddles in a room with toys and visual stimulus for your cats enjoyment.
