When can I take a tour of your facility?

Tours are offered during regular business hours during off-peak dates. No tours on Sunday as we are only open 2 hours for drop-off and pick-up. Calling ahead to make sure a tour is available is always a good idea.

Why can't I tour during Peak times?

Our Guest (your pets) become comfortable and relaxed in our presence but an unknown person can cause them to get worked up, which causes unneeded stress for everyone.  During peak times, that is a lot of stress they don't need.  We ask that people understand and appreciate that their pet will enjoy the same benefit during their stay.

What vaccinations does Soos Creek Kennels require for my pet?

We recommend shots be administered at least 7 days prior to your arrival. This allows you time to watch for any adverse reactions to the vaccinations. Additionally, the initial stress of boarding can lower your pet's immune system defenses causing a hardship for your pet while trying to process a vaccine.

Current vaccinations

Dogs: Bordatella, DHLPP (or some variation of) and Rabies.
Cats: Feline Leukemia, FVRCP and Rabies.

* Recommend all pets on flea/tick medication. We recommend the canine influenza.

What proof of vaccinations do you require?

Your veterinarian may fax or e-mail your pet's shot records or you can bring in a current copy or invoice from your vet. No hand written records will be accepted. People with self-vaccinated pets must call prior to making your reservation to discuss.

Am I allowed to bring my pets own food?

Yes, Soos Creek Kennels has a very good quality food available for both dogs and cats but you are welcome and encouraged to bring your own. When bringing your own food, please bring only enough for your pet's stay in a sealed container.  Individually packaged portions is an easy (and preferable) way to package your pet's meals for their stay. No dishes necessary!

Special note-avoid bringing unusual food items that your pet is not familiar with as it can cause them upset tummies.

Can I bring bedding or toys for my Pet?

Yes, we encourage you to bring something familiar to make them feel comfortable. We provide a soft cot along with a plush cloth mat, you can bring a small blanket and/or similar item; i.e., Hoodie, sweatshirt. Additionally, we encourage you to bring along a familiar toy or two, their regular treats. Things that will remind them of home.

What happens if my pet is injured or becomes sick during their stay?

Our contract (which you sign) gives us authorization to provide medical attention if needed. If the illness or injury dictates, we have your veterinarian's name and phone number on record and we will attempt to contact them. If something happens after your veterinarian's office is closed, we will contact one of two local 24 hour emergency care facilities. Of course, we will also be calling you at the emergency number(s) you have provided.

How does Soos Creek Kennels charge for our pets stay?

In many ways we're like a hotel.  You pay for the day your pet checks in but unlike a hotel, we allow check-ins as early as 9:00 am. Check-out is 12 noon but should you not make it back before noon, don't worry, your pet will be waiting for you but you will be charged for an additional day. Pets that are groomed prior to leaving are considered checked out at noon, regardless of when they leave that day.

Why are there charges for every item, instead of just one flat rate?

Charges are broken down to meet the needs of every customer.  Some people are just looking for a safe place to keep their pet while others want the full Spa treatment and then, there is everyone in-between.

Tell me about walks, playtimes and snuggle times?

We have a belief at SCK that as much as your pet may want to play with other animals, what they need most is human contact so for that reason SCK offers walks (dogs) and playtimes (dogs & cats) that are 1-on-1 with a member of our staff. 1-on-1 sessions give them the quality human attention they crave and need. Group play is available to qualified dogs, if requested.

Where do the walks, playtimes and snuggle times take place?

For dogs it varies.  We have 7 wooded acres and a nature trail that wanders through the back 4 acres so this is where our "nature walks" occur.

Playtime (Group or Individual) is done in our 2 fully fenced playtime areas. If weather is a factor or if they are participating in group play, those can take place in our 30' x 60' daycare facility where there is a fenced off area for guests that have requested "Snuggle times". Our cat guests have a cozy room in the cattery that offers toys and visual entertainment to give them extra room to play or snuggle.

Are the walks and play times really necessary?

Necessary NO! Beneficial YES! Like most vacations, the kennel is a very active place and with all the stimulus that life at the kennel offers, taking advantage of our exercise programs provides 1-on-1 time for your pet and helps break up their day.

I have more than one pet can they share the same run?

Yes, as long as you're suggesting dogs with dogs and cats with cats! It is not uncommon for 2 or 3 dogs or cats to share a run.  The run size may have to be controlled by SCK to assure that they are in a run large enough for all of them to be comfortable.  An added bonus is that multiple pets receive a discount when sharing a run.  Please note-we NEVER put pets from different families in the same run!

What is the space where my dog will stay like?

All our dog runs are indoor/outdoor. The indoor area is heated and walled on 3 sides offering them an area where they can get comfortable with their belongings and a bit of privacy from their neighbors. The outside area is covered to protect them from the elements.  A 20" barrier prevents their neighbors from dirtying your pets run. The remainder is chain link, offering them a chance to get nose to nose and socialize if they want. It is a very open environment but with an area for privacy.

What is the space where my cat will stay like?

Our Cattery is located in a separate building away from the dogs. It also offers indoor/outdoor style runs so should your feline friend enjoy going outdoors, they may do so in a secure, covered enclosure. Each indoors space has a 5-foot tall cat tower with shelves and enclosed spaces for privacy. We also offer additional services such as cat self-play or cat cuddles in a room with toys and visual stimulus for your cat's enjoyment.

Does Soos Creek Kennels offer any discounts?

Yes, we offer discounts for multiple pets sharing the same kennel run, Seniors (65 and over), active duty Military personnel, and length of stays beginning with 15 days (10% off boarding only) up to and beyond 30 days (20% off boarding only).
